Responsibilities

The Department of Political Science (http://www.northeastern.edu/cssh/polisci/) and the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University invite applications to fill one or more open-rank tenure-track faculty positions to begin in the fall of 2017. The Department seeks candidates with a record of excellence in research and teaching in the fields of comparative politics or public policy with a focus in resilience, sustainability, and related areas. Of particular interest are new or established scholars who study how governments and societies adjust to disruptions and major changes in existing relationships and practices. This emphasis on resilience and sustainability may cross different policy areas, including environmental, economic, social welfare, and others. Joint appointments with other units in the college and the university are possible.

Qualifications

A PhD in Political Science or related field or the equivalent is required by the start of the appointment. Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive environments as well as to promoting experiential learning, which are central to a Northeastern University education.

Additional Information

The Department of Political Science has 26 tenured and tenure-track faculty members, two teaching professors, one lecturer, and three staff members. Ten faculty members hold joint appointments in other academic units. The robust undergraduate and graduate programs include 550 undergraduate majors and 60 graduate students in the Master of Arts in Political Science, Master of Science and Graduate Certificate in Security and Resilience Studies, and PhD in Political Science programs. The Department offers a collegial environment in which faculty engage in different research methodologies in a multidisciplinary setting.
