Responsibilities

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the School of Pharmacy, Bouvé College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University invites applications from highly-motivated candidates for tenure-track/tenured faculty positions at the associate or full professor level. Broad expertise in the field of pharmacology with a background in behavioral, cellular, molecular, or systems pharmacology is required. The Department has long-standing strengths in neuropharmacology, immunology, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, imaging, drug discovery, development and delivery. Under its new leadership, the Department is also building a program in membrane structural biology. Candidates for these positions should be able to complement, collaborate, and expand these areas of strength.

The candidate will be expected to actively participate in providing research opportunities to undergraduate students (BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharm.D. professional programs) and in the training and support of graduate students (MS and PhD) and postdoctoral scholars. Teaching duties will include pharmacology content in required and elective coursework in the undergraduate (BS) and professional (Pharm.D.) programs and graduate curricula of the Department.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. in pharmacology or related specialty field such as neuroscience, biochemistry or pharmaceutical sciences related field by the start date, and will have an established extramurally-funded research program in one of the areas of pharmacology named above. Applicants with current transferable funding will be given priority.
The candidate must have background in, or commitment to working with diverse student populations and/or in a culturally diverse work and educational environments. Interdisciplinary appointments and highly competitive start-up packages are available to qualified applicants.

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is one of the flagship departments in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University. It houses the Center for Drug Discovery, New England Inflammation and Tissue Protection Institute, the Center for Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and Nanomedicine, and the Center for Translational Imaging.
