A visionary scientific leader is sought for the Directorship of the Barnett Institute of Chemical and Biological Analysis ( Founded in Boston in 1973, the endowed Institute has become a premier research center for bioanalytical chemistry, and is home to eight faculty members and over fifty research scientists. The current and inaugural director, Professor Barry L. Karger, will transition from the post following the appointment of a successor, who will be offered an endowed professorship in an affiliated department at the University. Applicants with interest in any aspect of bioanalytical chemistry are sought. The candidate should merit academic appointment at Full Professor level with tenure.


Required qualifications include a PhD in Chemistry or related field, a high impact and well-funded research program, demonstrated administrative leadership, a record of innovative interdisciplinary program development, and demonstrated teaching ability.

Additional Information

The Institute has played a significant role in separation science, the human genome project, mass spectrometry, clinical proteomics, and regulatory science for biopharmaceuticals. Close to 375 alumni of the Institute have gone on to distinguished careers in academia and industry.
