Responsibilities

The Department of Bioengineering at Northeastern University invites applications for tenured or tenure-track appointments at the assistant, associate or full professor level. This search continues a multi-year expansion of the recently formed Department of Bioengineering.

We seek individuals who can apply innovative methodologies and uncover novel design principles and strategies for engineering biological systems and create impactful solutions to emerging societal problems in the areas of alternative energy, sustainability and health. The focus of this search is in the area of cellular biosystems design. The areas of interest include research utilizing a combination of advanced computational platforms for simulation of complex systems with experimental approaches such as novel tissue culture and cell printing techniques. Relevant technologies may include cutting edge imaging approaches; single cell analyses; systems and synthetic biology with the ultimate goal of engineering rational approaches to control of cellular behavior; studying impact of cellular system behavior on human-machine interfaces; novel approaches to neural engineering; or stem cell research.

Qualifications

A doctorate degree in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, or a closely related field by the start date is required. Outstanding candidates at all levels will be considered. Successful candidates will be expected to develop strong independent research programs with emphasis on interdisciplinary and translational research and to excel in teaching in both our undergraduate and graduate programs. The successful senior candidate should be an established researcher with a strong record of funding, peer-reviewed publications, and technical leadership.
