Responsibilities

The School of Architecture at Northeastern University announces a search for an Assistant Professor, tenure-track with a particular focus on Urban Design. Successful candidates will have a terminal degree by the start date in their field, with a PhD preferred, and be able to articulate a strong research agenda that engages with the broader disciplinary discourse as well as with the cultural, social, economic, and/or political contexts of architecture, design, and urban policy. Teaching responsibilities will include studio and seminar courses. Ability to teach courses in and contribute to the Landscape Architecture program is desired though not required. The position has an anticipated start date of Fall 2018.

Qualifications

Situated within the College of Arts, Media and Design, the School of Architecture is interested in candidates with an ambition to connect to other design related fields within the College and University. We welcome a variety of approaches, and are interested in candidates who might contribute to the University’s Global Resilience Initiative, the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, and/or other relevant campus-wide programs. The School of Architecture is located in the heart of Boston, a thriving urban center of culture and innovation with extensive global connections and intellectual networks. Within the School, there are two interrelated disciplines: architecture and urban landscape. The School currently offers three undergraduate degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Architecture; a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies; and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture. The School also offers two graduate degrees: a professionally accredited Master of Architecture; and a Master of Design for Sustainable Urban Environments.

The College of Arts, Media and Design has a unique combination of disciplines, including Architecture, Art+Design, Communication Studies, Journalism, Media and Screen Studies, Music, and Theatre.
