The Information Security Analyst is responsible for supporting the safety and security of the computing and information environment, investigation of incidents, and the assessments of risks to data, privacy and the university’s computer systems.

Working with other departments on campus, the security analyst performs intake, analysis, and incident management for issues of Appropriate Use of Computers and Networks, Security Incidents, and Risk Management. Works with legal and university entities to recommend and pursue appropriate disciplinary and risk reduction actions. Works with internet service providers to resolve issues of network abuse. The position is challenged to continue and build on, an effective practice around investigation and management of information security incidents and risks.

To ensure that essential services are provided to the university community, the employee will be required to work outside their regular working hours as needed.


The ideal candidate will have the following:

Bachelors degree in Information Technology or a related field and three years progressively more responsible professional IT experience required, with demonstrated success in applying email, web, TCP/IP and client/server concepts and technical principles. Familiarity/experience with SEIM concepts and technology. Familiarity/experience with concepts of digital forensics and chain of custody procedures. Excellent oral and interpersonal skills. Platform presentation skills. Demonstrated proficiency in creating and maintaining clear and accurate written records. Ability to act independently in case investigations, while maintaining strict confidentiality, and in compliance with University policy and the law. A background investigation is required.
