The Program Coordinator plays a vital role in developing and implementing strategies related to a variety of special projects, including events, academics, and marketing for the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE). Primary areas of responsibility include: Coordinate and carry out work related to CEE events designed to increase the department’s visibility across stakeholder groups. Events include workshops, symposiums, seminars, meetings, and receptions. The Program Coordinator will develop new and existing events that fall under an expanding portfolio, designed to support the strategic mission of the department. Daily operational tasks involve managing all aspects of event planning and delivery, including securing and organizing space, ordering food, arranging AV, negotiating contracts, and basic promotion. The Program Coordinator will address ongoing faculty, student and staff needs related to teaching, research, and service. He/she will: facilitate all activities of undergraduate and graduate studies committees and assist with faculty search committees; assist with scheduling and room assignments for all undergraduate and graduate course offerings and seminars; organize course registration and scheduling; record student progress toward degree/program completion; coordinate with college advising and assist with the college’s programmatic initiatives; assist student organizations with events and activities; provide guidance to faculty and students on all departmental, college, and university policies and procedures related to undergraduate and graduate programs. The Program Coordinator will support college and university marketing and communications initiatives. This involves providing marketing content to college and other partners to ensure department-relevant material. He/she will maintain department website and generate print material designed to effectively reach strategic partners. He/she will also supervise student marketing group.
The Program Coordinator will work with the Administrative Assistant and Business Manager in completing general administrative tasks related to the front office. Responsibilities include being first point of contact for visitors, students, faculty and staff; preparation, submission and tracking of expense documentation; data entry; report preparation; and scheduling.


Bachelor’s degree required, and at least two years’ experience with preference given to candidates who have experience in event planning and marketing. Candidates must demonstrate a professional presence and maturity in dealing with a variety of audiences, external and internal to the university. Excellent interpersonal, oral presentation, and written communication skills are critical for success. Strong project management/organizational skills with attention to detail, commitment to quality, and ability to balance multiple demands from demanding constituencies. Additional requirements include creativity, positive can-do attitude, flexibility, initiative, ability to function effectively as member of a team in a dynamic and exciting work environment, reflective, and high integrity.
