The Grant Administrator is responsible for pre-award financial and administration support in the College of Engineering (COE). She/he advises and assists faculty with research budget development and preparation of the administrative portions of proposals. Collaborates with the Office of Research Administration and Finance (ORAF) on submission of proposals both electronic and paper. Key responsibility is ensuring that the research grant proposals meet the established guidelines and deadlines.


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in account or business administration with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in grant administration in an academic environment. Must have a solid understanding of federal/university guidelines, policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a high volume, deadline driven environment. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills needed. Knowledge of federal web-based grants management systems, enterprise financial systems, query tools or grants management tools a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Works independently with minimal supervision; respects deadlines. Enjoys working in a fast-paced and challenging environment, and with all levels of University staff. Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of the COEUS proposal submission system.
