Responsibilities

The Undergraduate Enrollment Marketing and Communications Team is a hybrid marketing and communications team which blends traditional and digital marketing efforts with a focus on communications. The team is made up of experts in skill areas such as: marketing, communication, analytics, strategy. We are an agile and flexible team that aims to enable better storytelling by stronger reporting and strategic analysis of our marketing and communications efforts.

Reporting to the Senior Director, the Associate Director of Digital Marketing is responsible for leading the work in the digital marketing realm, including the transition from a homegrown CRM to Marketo and, once established, overseeing the comprehensive digital marketing strategy for the undergraduate programs to support the growth of annual enrollment goals and increase awareness of the Northeastern University brand. The Associate Director will be responsible for the oversight of the digital marketing strategies of the unit with emphasis on email marketing and the optimization of those strategies to achieve KPIs set forth that ultimately contribute to increases in applications and new enrolled students. Further, the Associate Director will be responsible for linking complex direct mail campaigns with digital efforts. In addition, this role will collaborate, support, and assist many of the daily activities and initiatives within the Undergraduate Enrollment Marketing and Communications unit including both traditional marketing, such as market research, branding efforts, print collateral, and other tactics, as well as communications strategies around messaging and PR.

The Associate Director is responsible for creating, deploying, tracking and measuring digital marketing strategies for undergraduate day program in support of enrollment management strategy and across multiples colleges within Northeastern University. He or she will collaborate with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications and team, the Marketing Operations team, the Enrollment Management teams (Admissions, Financial Aid, Research, and Global Services), the Creative Team, including the Digital Analytics Manager, to achieve overall digital strategy goals.

The Associate Director is a skilled strategic digital marketer who understands how to develop, implement, track and optimize marketing campaigns across all digital channels. A plus for those who have strategized and implemented systems transitions with in MAPs.

The Associate Director will work to establish positive relationships and collaborate with others internally and externally in various departments, to provide targeted marketing and communication strategic insight in order to support the goals of Enrollment Management and Undergraduate Admissions. Consultative nature, with proven track record of using data to answer business questions. Excellent communication and presentation skills to present information and data to different constituents. This position requires a unique blend of marketing background, combined with the ability to develop strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, excellent project management and presentation skills.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree is required along with 6-7 years of significant experience in developing, implementing, tracking/analyzing strategic marketing campaigns. Experience in a marketing field or department required. Higher education experience a plus. Demonstrated success in the development and implementation of marketing strategies.

Flexible, creative thinker open to new ideas and changing priorities within a fast-paced organization. Strong analytical and digital marketing skills, along with project management skills and ability to manage stakeholder expectations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to think and act both analytically and strategically—analyze and interpret data to support the assessment of marketing campaigns is critical.

Experience working with a marketing automation tool, customer relationship management system (CRM), and Google Analytics is a must. Plus for experience in Marketo. Experience in social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, Reddit, etc.), social analytics (Hootsuite, Social Studio, etc.) are also a plus. Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign a plus.
