The Academic Support Coordinator for the Graduate School of Engineering will serve as a senior administrator with comprehensive responsibility for managing all departmental administrative functions, e.g; overseeing frontline customer service, office management; administrative operations, finance, student services and event planning.; Responsibilities include identifying and seeking solutions to problems on all administrative matters; ensuring that general needs are met and that all GSE functions have required support. Frontline customer service includes supervising one Staff Assistant, management of telephone and walk-in inquiries from prospective and current students, faculty, and staff in an environment where 85% of students are international. Administrative operations and finance includes serving as the liaison with the College of Engineering business office, processing hiring paperwork for student support, tracking discretionary, non-salaried, expenses, and assist with communications to graduate students. Support the Director of Student Services and Director of Admissions with administrative projects/tasks along with problem solving and goal setting for GSE. Provide event management and support for graduate admissions, current students, and graduation. Provide support with detail-oriented and deadline-driven processing of stipended graduate assistantships awarded to 500 students each term.


A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3 years of office administration experience in a professional office setting, preferable in higher education administration.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communications skills together with financial, supervisory and leadership skills.
    *Computer requirements include strong working knowledge of Microsoft Windows environment including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, advance knowledge of databases and spreadsheets and the ability to learn new systems independently.
    *Experience with event planning and office management
    *Customer service-oriented
    *Experience in working with international students recommended.
    *Must be highly organized and self-directed with the ability to work as a leader and a team member.
