The Associate Director (AD) plays a key role in the university’s overall strategic efforts to analyze a variety of supplier and customer usage spending patterns. The incumbent works closely with the Director, and Strategic Commodity Managers to identify opportunities through data analysis for increasing cost savings across the university’s business and academic departments. In addition the AD is responsible for monitoring spend with minority woman owned and small business enterprises.. The AD facilitates the transfer of knowledge, both orally and in the form of process documentation, to others within the department, divisions, and the university as a whole, by developing, maintaining, and ensuring professional execution of communications, reports, and process documentation. The AD is responsible to professionally and sensitively address and resolve both simple and complex issues, financial and functional controls and ethical/sound business decisions at the forefront of all decisions. Works collaboratively with the Director and all others internal and external to Procurement Services.


Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred and 4 – 6 years of progressively responsible experience in a general purchasing operation, preferably in a customer service role. Also requires good communication and interpersonal skills, a working knowledge of an ability to use various professional purchasing techniques, and ability to follow through completely on procurement administration. Must be able to work independently. Experience working in an environment including an ERP and Ecommerce systems desired. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong customer skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Accept and adapt to change. Knowledge of Banner Financials desired. Highly Proficient in the Microsoft suite of productivity applications such as Word,Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook and Visio is required
