Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts is seeking to hire one postdoctoral research fellow with strong research interests and competency in investigating the social determinants of cardiovascular diseases and risk factors, with an emphasis on the application of econometric/epidemiologic methods using longitudinal data.

The postdoctoral fellow will join an interdisciplinary team of researchers (including social epidemiologists, econometricians, and health service researchers) and will be involved in all aspects of the research process. Opportunities will include having access to data sets for publications, developing and writing research proposals and publications, participating in academic mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students and research staff, dissemination of research findings at professional conferences, and career development resources through Northeastern University and the Greater Boston area.

Opportunities may also exist for the fellow to coordinate one or more ongoing research projects and initiate independent research projects.

In addition, the postdoctoral fellow will participate in project team meetings and other seminars and will be actively engaged in the progress of research and dissemination of findings through manuscript publication and conference presentations.


Applicants should have a doctoral degree in epidemiology, social and behavioral sciences, public health, health economics, or a related field, as well as strong communication and writing skills. Experience in econometric methods and/or advanced epidemiologic methods to strengthen causal inference is strongly preferred.

The desired start date for the position is summer 2018.

The initial appointment is for a one-year period, with the possibility for renewal, contingent on several factors including performance.
