The International Student Advisor will support the range of OGS functions at the Seattle campus, bolstering the student experience at the growing regional site. Specifically, the International Student Advisor will participate in the OGS tasks involving review and processing of Certificates of Eligibility (I-20 and DS-2019 forms) for students and scholars in non-immigrant visa classifications and review of documentation for other study-eligible visa types. Ensure that all SEVIS actions across all OGS functions occur in a timely manner, from initial I-20 issuance to registration, employment, and OPT/completion/termination to advising and support for general student success. Examine the type, viability, modality, and processing sequence of every application as it applies to each individual applicant case. Reporting to the OGS Assistant/Associate Director at the Seattle campus, the International Student Advisor will 1) assist and collaborate with the Assistant/Associate Director in providing advising services to F-1 and J-1 students; 2) monitor international students’ enrollment status and compliance with federal regulations and institutional policies including attentive review of SEVIS and OGS case management system alerts, and follow-up with students accordingly; 3) assist with the reporting of SEVIS events either by batching or SEVIS RTI direct entry; and 4) support data auditing by reviewing alerts and reports and, consequently, flagging cases requiring immediate compliance analysis. The Advisor must maintain knowledge and operational expertise of SEVIS functions and upgrades, research and understand Code of Federal Regulations items as they apply to international student services, and perform data quality control functions, including: reconciling, verifying and monitoring data in SEVIS Batching system and Banner as they relate to SEVIS RTI for all international students in F-1 and J-1 visa classification. The International Student Advisor will also support activities aimed at improving and maximizing the student experience and the design of orientation programs and cultural activities and assist with maintaining e-forms and web site content.


• BA/BS minimum, MA or MS preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in higher education
• 2-3 years of experience in F-1 and J-1 student advising and SEVIS operations
• Extreme attention to details and elevated level of organizational skills
• Must be US citizen or LPR
