In collaboration with the Associate Dean; Director, GSE Academic Operations; and Program Manager(s), the Assistant Director will play a key role with the administrative and strategic activities that are vital to the academics of the assigned programs within CPS.

This position provides leadership in program management and assessment to ensure student success at CPS and emphasizes teaching and learning excellence and continual improvement while working collaboratively with individuals and committees throughout the college and community. The Associate Director makes recommendations for improving portfolio quality, delivery, efficiency, and operational practices.

In addition to the academic responsibilities, the Associate Director will work collaboratively with key stakeholders on planning, implementing, managing, and evaluating programs. These responsibilities include: (1) maintaining systems for monitoring enrollments, faculty performance, and student issues; (2) participating in retaining top qualified part-time faculty; (3) assist in ensuring course quality for assigned programs; and, (4) manage special projects as assigned.

The Assistant Director provides workflow and technical development and oversight. Workflows are developed in conjunction with all stake holders and end users through research, design, implementation, support, feedback and assessment. Technology is continually evaluated to support and transform processes into a faster and more accurate system needing less time and effort spent by employees


Minimum of a Bachelors Degree, Master’s degree preferred and 4-6 years’ experience operational / management experience; preferably in higher education and with adult learners or in a high customer service environment. Must demonstrate a proven ability to excel in interdisciplinary subject areas. Facility in working efficiently with many constituencies, including students, faculty, program managers, Assistant Deans, Associate Deans, and various offices and units in CPS. Teamwork and strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, as well as an ability to understand and design effective processes. A commitment to online education is a must. Experience in development of outcome measurement standards and assessment practices are also preferred.
Ability to meet timelines, deliverables, and exercise independent judgment. Strong leadership and effective communication skills are a must. Teamwork and strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to understand and design operational processes are required. Coaching experience desirable. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications required. Experience using enterprise systems such as Salesforce, PeopleAdmin and Banner a plus.
